I chose the lotus as my central theme because throughout Chinese dynastic history, it has been crafted into diverse patterns for various occasions and different social classes.
In today's era, where cultural identity holds great significance, we should continue this fine tradition inherited from our ancestors—keeping the lotus motif alive while infusing it with innovative ideas, allowing lotus patterns to flourish in countless variations.
The focus of my design lies in the deep connection between the lotus and religion. Whether in Taoism or Buddhism, the lotus carries rich symbolic meaning, representing humanity's shared aspiration for purity and sacredness. Thus, I incorporated mythological figures such as Nezha(哪吒), Guanyin(觀音), and the Buddha(佛祖), along with contemporary lotus-related elements, into my creative work.
