In terms of layout, I chose a circular pattern, believing it effectively represents the powerful nature of flowers as they expand and develop. The character “蕊” also radiates in a circular form, reinforcing the connection between the patterns and their spreading nature.

For colour matching, I aimed to create a mysterious and dreamlike style. Thus, I selected warm colour tones as the dominant palette to capture the essence of a colourful yet obscure natural world. This blend of elements allows for a harmonious representation of flowers and their intricate relationships with life and nature.

While reflecting on characters related to the radical of grass and plants, my thoughts initially turned to leaves and flowers. Leaves are common companions to flowers, each exhibiting diverse shapes and forms, which I find very interesting. This curiosity led me to explore various types of leaves, with the clover as my focus, symbolizing good luck.

The shapes of the leaves are reminiscent of traditional Chinese patterns, prompting me to adopt a modern approach to present these ideas alongside Chinese culture. For the pattern design, I chose different shades of green as the primary colour, aligning with the green of the clover.

This creates a harmonious atmosphere.

I opted for a circular and spreading effect to enhance the pattern, which emphasizes growth and expansion. Additionally, I placed a piece of leaf near the clover to create a visual connection, allowing viewers to freely interpret it as either a leaf or a flower. This interplay invites a deeper exploration of the relationship between leaves and flowers, enriching the overall aesthetic and thematic experience.

While contemplating the character of the radical of grass and plants, I wanted to explore words that evoke a mysterious atmosphere or possess unusual characteristics. Mushrooms came to mind as a captivating topic for my pattern, given their diverse shapes and forms, which make them intriguing subjects for simple graphics.

In crafting the pattern, I considered how to arrange the mushrooms within a square ratio, ultimately opting for a circular format to showcase the mushrooms spread throughout the square space. The character “菇菌” became my focal point, guiding the design toward a dark and toxic aesthetic that reflects the enigmatic nature of mushrooms.

To achieve this vision, I selected a palette of darker hues to establish a mysterious and moody atmosphere. The interplay of these colours enhances the sense of intrigue, drawing viewers into a world where mushrooms thrive in shadows. This approach not only highlights the unique forms of mushrooms but also invites contemplations on their fascinating yet often misunderstood nature. By merging these elements, I aim to create a visually striking pattern that captures the essence of mushrooms and their role in the natural world.

This method effectively conveys a sense of spreading and growth, suggesting a powerful and visually captivating presence. The combination of these elements allows the pattern not only to celebrate the unique forms of “萵” but also to evoke a sense of dynamism and vitality. By merging these ideas, I aim to create a striking visual representation that highlights the relationship between nature and the foods we enjoy in our daily lives.

我的系列主題取自於「生命周期」為靈感,選擇了「草/花/果/松」四個字詞。在構思的時候,我以三片菱形為組合象征著植物當中的葉片,以一到四的數量分別融合在四個圖案裡面,代表著他們的貫聯性。草的萌芽、花的綻放、果熟蒂落、樹的常青,都象徵著植物在自然環境中的一個生命循環。而在圖案中也加入了鱗片形狀的紋路,草本植物本是柔軟的,但他們也擁有着無形的堅硬的部分,比如說堅韌的生命力,使得它們得以長存。
